Startups to be at Betting on Sports America

(PRESS RELEASE) — New innovative businesses at the start of their journey now have the opportunity to promote their vision at Betting on Sports America, the largest dedicated sports betting industry conference and trade show in the U.S., which is being held from 23-25 April at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in New Jersey.

Conference organiser SBC (Sports Betting Community) has introduced a Start-Up Zone to the Betting on Sports America show floor to enable firms to exhibit at the event without the substantial investment usually required.

Among the firms already signed up to take advantage of the Start-Up Zone are EV Analytics, a cutting-edge sports analytics company trusted by fans and sports media outlets to help make data-driven decisions, and TAP 50:50 that provides technologies to broaden the reach of non-profit organisations and charities by automating their 50/50 raffles in a safe, secure, and most importantly increasingly exciting way.

SBC Chief Operating Officer Paul Mills commented, “Given the US sports betting market is currently at the start of a wave of activity, the right idea injected into proceedings at this stage could feasibly help shape the future of the whole sector.”

“This is why believe the introduction of the Start-Up Zone can give some interesting companies a cost effective way of communicating their vision to a growing and rapidly developing industry.”

The remaining stands in the Start-Up Zone are available to companies:

• Under three years old or in early stage of funding (seed, series A).
• Independently structured, ie not part of an existing company.
• U.S.-based or actively targeting US market focused.

Gov. Murphy to deliver keynote address at Betting on Sports America

(PRESS RELEASE) — New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy will share his vision for the future of sports betting in the state at next month’s Betting on Sports America conference, the biggest sports wagering trade event in the U.S.

Murphy, who will make a keynote address to the conference, being held across 23-25 April, joins a stellar cast of thought leaders and innovators drawn from the global sports betting industry and U.S. political arena. The core of the event is being held at Meadowlands Exposition Center in New Jersey, with networking parties in both NJ and NYC.

SBC organises the world’s biggest sports betting trade events in Europe and the United States via its event brand, SBCEvents.com. SBC also manages a network of betting and gaming industry news portals including SBCAmericas.com, an online news and analysis resource dedicated to the developing sports betting industries in North and South Americas.

The Governor’s inclusion at Betting on Sports America is entirely fitting given the vital role New Jersey played in getting legal sports betting onto the statute books. As a long standing supporter of sports betting, he not only championed its legalisation, but was instrumental in ensuring that the regulation was workable in a real world sense and, above all else, fair.

Commenting on his forthcoming attendance at Betting on Sports America, Murphy said, “It is my pleasure to address delegates from the international sports betting industry who will join us here in New Jersey for the inaugural Betting on Sports America conference. We are immensely proud of the integral part that New Jersey played in taking down PASPA and in doing so laying the solid foundations for legal sports wagering to be enjoyed by Americans across the nation. New Jersey has been a sports betting success story, and we hope that other states seeking to go legal will replicate that positive experience.”

SBC CEO and Founder Rasmus Sojmark heralded the Governor’s involvement in the discussions, saying, “We are delighted to have someone with the huge political standing and stature of Phil Murphy join us for what will be an unmissable event. The Governor will play a fundamental part in shaping and delivering legal sports wagering for New Jersey and we’re looking forward with high anticipation to his keynote address at Betting on Sports America.”

When Murphy signed New Jersey’s sports betting bill into law, he set in motion a new era for the Garden State’s casinos and racetracks, enabling them to attract new business and new fans, and giving a boost to their long-term financial prospects. Avid soccer fan Murphy also placed the historic first legal sports wager at Oceanport’s Monmouth Park racetrack with a $20 bet on Germany to win the 2018 FIFA World Cup and $20 on the New Jersey Devils to win Lord Stanley’s Cup.

MGA publishes Preliminary Market Consultation document

(PRESS RELEASE) — The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has recently issued a Preliminary Market Consultation (PMC) document to request information pertaining to possible project implementations which could provide a Unified Self-Exclusion System to be applied to the regulated gaming industry in Malta. The PMC document may be accessed via the Maltese Government’s Electronic Public Procurement System (ePPS). All submissions are also to be sent through the ePPS.

Responsible gaming is a key priority within the MGA’s regulatory policy development and framework. Following upon the White Paper to Future Proof Malta’s Gaming Legal Framework published in July 2017, the MGA is pursuing tools and means to further strengthen the protection afforded to players. These initiatives include the recently published Player Protection Directive, and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Directive, as well as our declared intent to launch a Unified Self-Exclusion System across gambling operators, irrespective of channel.

The MGA envisages that a Unified Self-Exclusion System would be a significant step forward in the MGA’s agenda to implement further control for the prevention of gambling-related harm, extending the criteria in Part IV of the Player Protection Directive, and Part IV of the Gaming Premises Regulations. The scope and high-level specifications of the Unified Self-Exclusion System can be accessed via the PMC document.

Helio Gaming set for Asian expansion

(PRESS RELEASE) — Helio Gaming CEO Richard Mifsud will tell Asian operators this week that the region has a great opportunity to embrace the new wave of online lottery products.

Mifsud will join nine other Malta-based suppliers in front of operators at the SiGMA roadshow in Manila, which takes place after the ASEAN gaming summit in the Philippines capital.

Helio, which made its Asian debut in May last year, has a portfolio of innovative lottery games that can be customised to individual operators.

It also offers betting on international lotteries and is about to launch a live lottery product, which will have particular resonance to audiences in the Far East.

Richard said, “The popularity and prevalence of sportsbook and casino and Asia is undisputed, but the adoption of next generation lottery has yet to be exploited, particularly outside of the big state lotteries.”

“Lottery used to be the domain of lottery operators only, but it is so much easier just to add the vertical to existing operations, where you can introduce new players to your site and cross-sell really appealing opportunities to win large jackpots to existing customers.”

“The live lottery element will also be very appealing and fit easily given the preference for the live dealer format in casino. I really think lottery could be the next big thing in Asia.”

Helio Gaming’s Hero games now include daily, weekly and event-based draws, which can be branded by individual operators to appeal to a large number of player demographics.

With unlimited jackpots, the draws can use the supplier’s certified RNG or live broadcast using existing casino studios, and even include non-monetary prizes such as cars, yachts, and luxury holidays.

In addition to attending ASEAN and the SiGMA Roadshow, Richard Mifsud will also appear on a panel at the latter discussing artificial intelligence, blockchain and automation within gaming.
