Paysafe wins Gold Stevie Award

(PRESS RELEASE) — Global payments provider Paysafe Group today announced that its Canadian HR unit was awarded with the ‘Gold’ award in the ‘HR Achievement in Benefits Design and Administration’ category at the 2019 Stevie Awards for Great Employers. The ceremony was held last Friday, 20 September, at the Marriott Marquis Hotel, New York City.

Paysafe’s top award in the field of employee benefits recognises a milestone year for the company’s Montreal and Calgary-based team of 14 HR professionals, who support close to 600 employees across three offices. Following strong company growth, the team introduced a more flexible modular benefits program, providing employees with more choice in their medical and dental benefits. Powered by a new service provider, the plan also offered state-of-the-art technology via mobile apps.

In tandem, the HR team revamped the Canadian group retirement plan, increasing the company’s employer matching contribution and offering employees more diverse investment options.

The team also spearheaded a range of other activities to improve the employee experience. These included a weekly running club, fortnightly spinning classes and catered healthy lunches as well as a new monthly book club, culminating in biannual Wellness Weeks. In addition, the team expanded the company’s diversify and inclusion strategy through an external audit, internal trainings and the introduction of a network of D&I champions.

Benefiting the community was also a strong focus for the team through an unprecedented range of corporate social responsibility activities. Autism Canada, Cystic Fibrosis Canada, Fondation En Coeur, and UNICEF were among more than 15 charities that benefited from the CSR program.

Paysafe’s ‘Gold’ Stevie award follows the company being presented with three 2019 Career Show Awards on 10 September in Sofia, Bulgaria: ‘Best Career Development Program,’ ‘Best Recruitment Innovation’ and being named the third ‘Best Employer’ in the country.

GiG halts investments in its game studio

(PRESS RELEASE) — Gaming Innovation Group Inc. has taken a strategic decision to halt investments in building its proprietary game studio, GiG Games, with immediate effect. The existing proprietary casino games will remain in GiG and continue to be offered to both internal and external operators.

The rationale behind this decision is to reduce OPEX and concentrate focus on key strategic areas, developing the technology and product to enable the full business potential as “the global partner and operator for strong brands in iGaming.” This action will swiftly lead to cash savings building to approximately €250,000 per month once the full effect is realised. Revenues generated from the proprietary games division have been negligible.

The 25 people employed by GiG Games have received termination packages as a consequence of the closure. Three employees are retained to maintain the current game studio until the end of 2019.

GiG started its game studio at the end of 2017, launching its first in-house developed casino game in October 2018. GiG’s games IP allows the Company to re-enter the casino games vertical at a later stage should proprietary content be considered strategically more important. GiG will continue to offer casino games to internal and external operators from third party providers.

OneTouch awarded Malta B2B software license

KPMG eGaming Summit celebrating 10 years

(PRESS RELEASE) — The 2019 KPMG Isle of Man eGaming Summit is just around the corner and a special anniversary edition of the program has been announced to celebrate the 10th birthday of the high profile series that started on the island in 2010.

This year’s eSummit is being held on 3 October at Comis Hotel and Resort, Mount Murray. Built around the theme of “Raising Standards Together for 10 Years”, the invitation-only event will look back to previous eSummits over the past decade and will feature key industry speakers from the island and beyond.

KPMG’s Micky Swindale will commence the day’s agenda with a recap on the Isle of Man gaming story since 2010, before welcoming Isle of Man Chief Minister Howard Quayle to the stage to open the summit program. Simon French of Bixteth Partners will then talk through ‘The Good, The Bad & The Ugly’ examining 10 years of merger and acquisition (M&A) deals in the gambling and betting sector. The M&A theme continues into the first panel of the day, exploring continuing consolidation, current M&A activity and trends.

Throughout the day, familiar figures in the Isle of Man gaming sector have been invited to reflect on the industry’s journey since the first eSummit, telling the story of the past 10 years, as well as asking all of those in attendance to look ahead to the next 10 and predict what they might bring. Garth Kimber, from Xela Holdings, will kick-start these sessions before the morning coffee break, which is sponsored by Wiggin.

The morning will continue with David Black from Continent 8 Technologies, followed by sessions looking at industry collaboration starting with Sarah Hanratty, CEO of the Senet Group, and a second panel session on collaboration to protect customers, led by KPMG’s Adam Rivers. Lyle Wraxall, CEO of Digital Isle of Man, will further explore the Isle of Man gaming story, before Wes Himes, Interim CEO of the Remote Gambling Association updates delegates on the transformation of the RGA, along with the Association of British Bookmakers, into the newly-formed Betting and Gaming Council, and its plans for the future.

The day will draw to a close with the traditional operator panel, moderated by KPMG’s Russell Kelly. Speaking with leading figures from the sector, he will draw together their thoughts on all the matters discussed and their views on the global direction and priorities for the eGaming sector. Isle of Man Department for Enterprise Minister Laurence Skelly will give the closing address before delegates are invited to join Mischon de Reya for post-summit drinks and canapes.
