Scary Bingo Review

Another site from 888 Holdings, Scary Bingo is a spookily themed bingo website that offers all sorts of creepy games and promotions.

Launched towards the end of summer 2015, it is an atmospheric site best played around Halloween, however is Scary Bingo worth a visit at other times of the year as well?

Not So Scary Bingo

Visually, Scary Bingo leaves a lot to be desired and makes generally poor use of their branding. The site shares the same layout as other websites in the Network such as Daisy Bingo and Spy Bingo, neither of which are exactly oil paintings themselves.

Scary Bingo does have a decent, suitably spooky looking logo, promotions banner and some of the main fonts are also themed. However, for one reason or another there is no background, with a white screen instead and this really detracts from the whole atmosphere. We are sure in the past that this was not always the case, although as things currently are Spooky Bingo fails to make the most of its title, this is a shame as there is plenty of potential to be made of this.

On a desktop the main design is quite narrow and looks outdated, there is a main menu at the top of the screen underneath which is a small promotions banner and top winners, followed by more promotions, instant winners, progressive jackpots and welcome content.

As first impressions go, Scary Bingo does not overly scream quality although it’s not all about the looks, as long as the gaming is good this is something than can be overlooked. Talking of witch…

52 Ball What!?

The line up of games at Scary Bingo is typical of the other websites in the 888 Holdings Network and if you have played any of these before then you will know exactly what to expect as they share the same platform. Rooms available include 90 ball and 75 ball bingo variations and unusually there is also a 52 ball bingo room to play, a game most other bingo sites do not offer. There are also a number of casino, scratchcard and slots to play, including some with huge progressive jackpots to be won.

Many of the games also feature live chat, which is not only a great source of entertainment but also worth keeping at least eye on for the additional bonuses and games that are often held at random occasions, a good way to top up any dwindling bingo budget.

Software used is Dragonfish, a tried and tested platform that powers the other sites in the Network, with games downloaded and installed once selected and running without any issues.

Whilst the line up of bingo rooms may seem a little meagre when compared to other networks, such as Cozy Games with sites such as Merlin Bingo, there is the unique 52 ball bingo game and the games that are available here all play well and are professionally presented.

Scary Bingo Membership

As is standard across all bingo sites in the Network, visitors on a desktop are able to take a look through Scary Bingo to see what is on offer however, to deposit and play they must first register their details and become members. This is a simple three-step process that requires a few details and takes about ten minutes, after which the gaming can begin. New members are also automatically enrolled into the loyalty programme with additional rewards becoming available the more they deposit and play.

Support is available via Live Help in game, telephone and email contact, there is also a FAQ page linked in the footer of every page.

Deposit limits are variable and set on an individual basis with credit cards, debit cards, Paysafe, PayPal, Entropay, wire transfer and Apple Pay accepted. Withdrawals also have no limit, which is good to see especially with the potential massive progressive jackpots to be won and the same methods as depositing are accepted. Although not essential, we were disappointed to find Boku payments were not accepted, this is particularly handy for mobile players and something we would prefer to see as standard across all online casinos.

Playing on Mobile & Tablet

The mobile version of Scary Bingo is very similar to the other bingo sites operated by 888 Holdings and shares the same layout, games and software.

With no need to download and install a separate app, players on mobile devices should visit the normal Scary Bingo web address where they will be automatically redirected to a mobile optimised version of the site designed with a layout that is better suited for the smaller scream (screen) dimensions.

Scary Bingo mobile shares similar branding to the main desktop site as feels like a natural extension, albeit with a slightly smaller games line up. The Dragonfish software used is tried and tested within the industry resulting in games that download and install in around 10-15 seconds and thanks to the games being HTML5 based run well without any noticeable issues.

Only members can access the mobile website, requiring visitors to login before they play, so those who do wish to play on a portable device must first register their details.

Playing Scary Bingo on a mobile device gives members the option of taking their gaming anywhere they wish that has a stable internet connection with a seamless gaming experience, perfect for those to trips to well-connected haunted houses or even just in bed whilst hiding under the sheets.

Social Media Pages

There appears or more appropriately, disappears, to be something mysterious going on when it comes to social media at Scary Bingo as, rather eerily, there is currently none to review. This is obviously an area of the site that could be improved on, as other online bingo sites have shown, social media accounts can really help engage and build membership.

The Verdict – Scarily average

Scary Bingo is not shockingly bad, neither is it frighteningly good either. Aside from the name and branding, the site offers a very similar experience to other bingo websites in the Network, BBQ Bingo for example, and won’t hold any surprises if you have played any these before.

Having said that, whilst the presentation may not make the most of the name, Scary Bingo does offer a reasonable line up of games, including the unusual 52 ball bingo game, has some generous promotions, an automatic loyalty scheme and a number of large jackpot games.

A reasonable site that won’t disappoint, Scary Bingo has the potential to be so much more, not bad.
